My first attempt at making cookies and it was fairly easy, in my opinion. One thing’s for sure, I still prefer baking cakes to cookies as I can just leave the cake to bake in the oven and do not need to keep on checking on it. With cookies, you need to be more alert to ensure that they do not turn brown too quickly as timing may vary due to the size of your cookies and the oven. However, I will definitely be baking these for Chinese New Year. Yummmm…..

Recipe of butter cookies below.


  • 125g butter
  • 50g icing sugar
  • 170g all purpose flour
  • 1 egg white

Serving size : 52 pieces of cookies


  1. Cream butter with icing sugar. Add in egg white and continue beating until mixture is fluffy.
  2. Blend in flour and mixed thoroughly.
  3. Preheat oven at 300F (150C)
  4. Grease baking tray. Use a star nozzle to pipe out the dough. Garnish with sprinkles or cut cherries or whatever your heart desires.
  5. Bake in oven for 25 minutes.
