This is a little off topic but I wanted to share that I have finally left the world of employment. After 16 years with the same company (yeah! I’m that young) and accumulating my annual leave of close to a month, I was able to leave within 2 weeks after handing in my resignation letter. Many have asked me the reason for leaving and I have to say, it was due to a combination of many reasons (which I will not elaborate here) but what acted as the push button was the fact that my boss did not appreciate my contribution.
Anyway, I did not want to leave with a boring standard farewell mail, so I penned this:
Dear friends and colleagues,
After many years of growing together with DiGi, from a sweet young lenglui to *ahem* hot middle aged mama, it is finally my turn to bid adieu to all of you as I move on to pursue new challenges.
With many of you, I have shared a unique camaraderie which I hope will continue in the years to come even though I shall not be with the company. Here comes the part where you speed read to scan for your name……I would like to thank xxxxx, for giving me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, xxxxx of Comms for her guidance and encouragement & the Regional Management team members for their unyielding support.
I knowwww……you’re ticked off with me because I didn’t mention your name. I could go on listing people and groups but in the end the message would still be: I have truly enjoyed my time here and have been well supported with the work and outcomes we have achieved together as a team. So, my utmost appreciation goes out to ALL of you. Still p*ssed off with me? That’s ok, glad I made a lasting impression.

So, after 16 years of service, what did I get? Nothing from the company or my boss. Some of my colleagues gave me and another colleague a combined farewell lunch plus a small gift. So, look at my precious gift below – the reason why I share this news on my food blog.
