The office was having a health talk and some activities in conjunction with breast cancer awareness month. So, at the very last minute, I decided to bake some cupcakes and decorate them with pink butter cream icing. I used the red velvet cupcake recipe but wanted them to be in pink. I probably put too much colouring and they turned out to be red in the end.

Since this was my first time baking cupcakes, I was pretty pleased with how they turned out. Not perfect though. The cupcakes had cracks on the domes but the icing did a great job hiding them. Heh heh. Need to probably work on the oven temperature.

See the ugly cracks? Probably too much heat

I tried the to decorate with the flat swirl (is that what it’s called?) which my daughter said looked flat and ugly. See below. So, the last few cupcakes were decorated using the classic swirl which looked great (if I may say so).

The flat swirl?

I also decorated the cups with Breast  Cancer Awareness cupcake printouts which were provided for FREE from Chickabug, one of my favourite blog. Just click on the link to get these printouts if you are doing charity projects for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Cracks nicely disguised!
